The Utkal University, established in the year 1943, is the seventeenth oldest University in India. Its present campus at Vani Vihar, BHUBANESWAR is located on a sprawling 399.9 Acre area in the heart of BHUBANESWAR, with the Sainik School to its north, National High way No.5 to its south, Regional Research Laboratory and Institute of Physics to its west and the South Eastern Railway line to its east. The Foundation stone of this Campus was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India on 1st January 1958 and the Campus was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India on 2nd January 1963. This is a teaching-cum-affiliating University. There are at present twenty-seven Post-Graduate Departments located in the University Campus for Post-Graduate studies and research in various disciplines of Science, Humanities ,Business Administration, Social Science, Law and Commerce. The total number of students in the P.G. Department of the campus at Vani Vihar is nearly 3,000. This is in fact the largest affiliating University in the country with approximately 267 affiliated Colleges (Degree Colleges-219, Professional College-44, Other Constituent Colleges-2) under its jurisdiction.

The University has now the jurisdiction over 9 districts, viz, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh and Puri and is spread over an area of 24,973 sq. kilometers catering to the needs of higher education of a population of more than 110 lakhs.

At present the University has twenty-seven Post-Graduate teaching and research departments located within the campus and three constituent Institutions, viz. Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education, University Law College at Vani Vihar and M.S. Law College at Cuttack. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) formerly known as National Open School (NOS) was established in November,1989 as an autonomous organisation in pursuance of National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Government of India. Delhi Technological University (DTU) invites for admissions to B.Tech degree courses for the academic session 2011-12 through online counseling on the basis of ranks in AIEEE-2011.

Eligibility

The candidates who have been declared eligible for central counselling by the CBSE and have secured 60% or more marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics shall be eligible for admission.

85% of total seats will be available for the candidates from Delhi region and remaining 15% seats will be for the candidates from outside Delhi Region. Other than reservation for SC, ST, OBC, Physically Handicapped, children/widows of personnel of Armed/paramilitary Forces killed/disabled and Kashmiri Migrants, one seat over and above normal intake in each branch is earmarked reserved for Single Girl Child from Delhi Region.

Drivhusgasser i atmosfæren er i følge FNs klimapanel IPCC en væsentlig årsag til de globale klimaændringer. Derfor er der et stort behov for nøjagtige målinger og vurderinger af koncentrationen af drivhusgasser i atmosfæren. Indsatsen mod klimaændringer og nedbringelse af drivhusgasser kan måles direkte i atmosfæren, når man har den rette forskningsinfrastruktur til rådighed. Det har man på Risø DTU.

”At vores forskningsfaciliteter til dataindsamling omkring drivhusgasser nu er blevet optaget på listen over vigtig forskningsinfrastruktur er resultatet af mange års forskning, der startede i 1996, hvor vi deltog i det første EU projekt - Euroflux - om måling af CO₂ flukse i skove. Til det formål etablerede vi sammen med Afdelingen for Vindenergi på Risø DTU en målestation i en bøgeskov ved Sorø. Dette projekt løb over 5 år”, siger Kim Pilegaard, chef for Afdelingen for Biosystemer.

"Vores måleudstyr er anbragt i en lille bøgeskov ved Sorø, som er nogenlunde ensartet og frem for alt flad, hvad der er nødvendigt for gode fluksmålinger, der kræver homogen overflade og stor udstrækning,” siger Kim Pilegaard.

Det viste sig at denne bøgeskov var et godt sted at udføre disse fluksmålinger, og Det Strategiske Miljøforskningsprogram gik ind i finansieringen. Der opstod et nyt EU projekt, Carboeurope, hvor deltagerkredsen blev udvidet fra 12 partnere til 30. I dag er der mere end 100 målestationer fordelt over hele Europa.
