Baitarani Gramya Bank (BGB) derives its name from the holy river Baitarani – cascading down from Gupta Ganga near Gonasika in Keonjhar District and criss-crossing the twin districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj and finally flowing into the Bay of Bengal at Dhamara.
Of the 5 Regional Rural Banks operating in Orissa State , we, BGB, are one of the two stand alone RRBs catering to the banking needs of the millions inhabiting the two developing districts of Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. Again, we are the lone stand alone RRB amongst the 5 RRBs sponsored by Bank of India in the country.
We, BGB were set up on 23.06.1980 at Baripada, the headquarters of Mayurbhanj District and commenced business with Paid Capital of Rs. 1 Crore and Authorised Capital of Rs. 5 Crore. The ownership of the Bank is shared between Central Govt. 50%, Bank of India 35% and State Govt. 15%.
